    Flip front motorcycle helmets

Flip up helmets provide an excellent combination of practicality off the bike, but still have the added protection of a chin bar when riding. Flip front helmets are excellent when touring, when you want to stop and have a chat without removing your helmet, boarding a ferry or train, or if you want to pack your luggage or get something from your pockets. All of these features are attractive commuting, and also to those who feel confined by a full face helmet.

The latest generation of flip motorcycle helmets offer dual homologation. Dual homologation means that the helmet has been approved and is legal to ride in the EU as both an open face helmet, and also as a full face helmet. This means that, unlike most flip helmets, you can also legally ride with these dual homologated helmets in the open position too, not just the full face position. Perfect closed when touring at higher speeds on open roads, and to ride open when travelling through slow city traffic, or when conditions heat up. You can check to see how your helmet has been homologated and to verify that it has met the requirements for EU approval (usually on the chin strap) which will have a number followed by a slash and a letter. The letter P indicates it has a protective chinbar, and has been approved by EU testing to be what we know as a Full Face Helmet (in a flip this means the closed position). The letter J indicates it has been approved as a jet helmet, which we generally refer to as an Open Faced Helmet. Dual homologated flips have both letters P and J after the number, indicating that they have received EU approval to be ridden in both the open and closed position.
